Supreme Court of Virginia, Commission on Mental Health Law Reform

Information about and reports produced by the Commission on Mental Health Law Reform established in October, 2006. The Commission was directed to conduct a comprehensive examination of Virginia's mental health laws and services and to study ways to use the law more effectively to serve the needs of people with mental illness, while respecting the interests of their families and communities.

MacArthur Research Network

Professor John Monahan twice directed research networks for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Research topics include mental health and the law (dealing with issue of competence, coercion, and violence risk) and mandated community treatment (dealing with the use of leverage in outpatient treatment).
